Heartland Primary Care is an area leader in family practice medicine for people of all ages. We focus on medicine so that you can focus on life.

Appointments

As a family practice office, treat all ages. We regularly provide well-baby exams, sports and school physicals, and immunizations. We also provide routine women’s care including breast exams and pap smears and minor office surgery. However, this is far from the extent of our services. Please call (270) 765-5926 to make an appointment with one of our providers. If you are an established patient, we can often get you an appointment the same day if need be, but please allow a week’s notice for complete physicals and pap smears. If you are a new patient, we will work you in as quickly as possible according to your needs.

Laboratory

We offer in house laboratory services. We will draw the blood at our office and perform many of the tests at our office. This means that you will have the results more quickly and they will generally cost less than if performed at the hospital. Some tests cannot be processed on our equipment and the blood is therefore sent out to another lab called Quest Diagnostics. If your lab results are normal, you will be notified by mail within two weeks. If your results are abnormal, you will receive a call from our office. Please call our office at (270) 765-5926 if you have not heard from us within two weeks.

X-Ray

We also offer in house x-rays. Rather than going to the hospital for x-rays, we can perform these at our office saving you time and money. The provider evaluates the x-ray while you wait giving you a diagnosis immediately. All x-rays are then sent out to be read by a radiologist for added assurance.

Referrals

There are times when the provider wants tests done, such as MRI’s, CAT scans, and mammograms, that cannot be performed at our office. We refer to Hardin Memorial, Lincoln Trail Diagnostics, and Jewish Hospital South (Brooks Road exit off of I-65). Where you go to have these tests is dependent on your preferences and availability. Appointments for these tests are made within 3 days, but when the appointment is made for depends on the facility’s availability. We also refer to specialists when the provider feels you have a need or condition that is best addressed by a doctor who specializes in caring for it. We will refer you to both Elizabethtown and Louisville doctors depending on the specialty, availability, preference, and your specific situation.

Hours

Our office is open from 7am – 5pm Monday through Friday. We are available by phone 24 hours a day. Our office staff answers the phone from 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday. We have an answering service during the hours that the office is closed. Always call (270) 765-5926 regardless of the time or day. If you have a question that can wait until the office opens, please wait to call until business hours.
